Pins 4 Paws Raises Funds for BENCHS
BENCHS held it’s Pins 4 Paws Bowling Fundraiser again this March! Pins 4 Paws began as a fundraiser in memory of Jerry Wegmann, a BENCHS fan. Jerry Wegman was a dedicated volunteer at BENCHS and on the building committee for our current building. Jerry passed away unexpectedly in 2016.
Ten teams hit the WowZone in Mankato on March 12th to bowl for the cats and dogs at BENCHS. Bowlers received a string of beads for every strike they made. Youth bowlers were given t-shirts for participating.
The event is pretty low-key. Many of the teams were determined to give it their best shot to earn the “Top Team” award. The K9s were earned that honor with a final score of 1681. Way to go!
Additionally, all teams were asked to bring on their team spirit. One team did that with flying colors! BENCHS’ own Volunteer Coordinator, Kayla, pulled a team of friends together who came dressed for the event. Team Cats, Dogs and Walruses easily won the “Team Spirit” award!
Finally, each team was asked to raise a $300 entry fee. Many of the teams donated much more than that. The K9s took the prize this year as the “Top Fundraiser” with a team donation of $1,705!! That’s just awesome!
